Montana offers an AFV conversion tax credit of up to 50% of the equipment and labor costs for vehicle conversion, with limits of $500 or $1000 based on vehicle weight.
The Montana Legislature passed a bill promoting the state-wide use of alternative fuels in both public and private endeavors, and Montana set a special tax rate for Compressed Natural Gas and an energy equivalency formula for determining a gallon-equivalent for CNG. Finally, Montana has setup requirements and licensing for CNG fuel dispensers.
